nine tenths

The end is fast approaching, so I'm switching to weekly updates.

20 Weeks

36 Weeks - December 31, 2011

Baby fruit size: Crenshaw melon. Whatever that is.

Milestones: Baby should be experiencing a slow down in his growth to store up energy for delivery and also to ensure he can fit when the time comes! Just had my 36 week (and 3 day) appointment and found out I'm 1.5 cm dilated and his head is already positioned pretty low. In the words of my sister-in-law, Jess, "I know I'm not supposed to get excited by that...but I am!"

Sex: Boy.

Sleep: What's that? I counted 10 bathroom breaks last night.

Stretch marks: None.

Weight: My total weight gain is now 20 pounds, which, if you do the math, means I added 4 pounds this past week. Thank you, Christmas cookies and 3 am peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Any quiet worries I had about not gaining enough weight this past month have been allayed.

Food cravings: Still PB&J (see above). Still Chipotle. And this one is pretty embarrassing, but I can't stop thinking about a beef 'n cheddar sandwich from Arby's and probably won't admit when I finally cave and get one.

Food aversions: None.

Other symptoms: I'm pretty sure I'm having Braxton Hicks contractions now - noticing random tightening and hardness in my abdomen throughout the day.

Movement: Same as last week - hiccups and squirming. There's not much room left in there for him!

Best moments: Asking my brother and Ed's sisters to be godparents. Making tons of progress on the nursery (updates soon). Getting comments from strangers, ranging from very nice ("Pregnancy suits you.") to pretty amusing ("You got 1 or 2 in there?").

What I miss: A full night's sleep.

What I'm looking forward to: Having this baby!!
